Suzanne Southerland, M.D.
was born and raised in Trinidad, W.I. until the age of 16 years. She then moved to Canada where she completed her undergraduate at the University of Guelph , Ontario, Canada. Subsequently she completed medical school and became the Student Union President at Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, where she graduated with Honors. She did a rotating internship in Ireland before moving to the USA to do her internship and residency in Pediatrics at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Southerland then took up a position at University of Florida as a Clinical Assistant Professor in pediatrics at Haile Plantation, Gainesville, Fl. She has worked locally here in Sarasota since 2003.
Dr. Southerland is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and in addition is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is also Clinical Assistant Professor at Florida State University College of Medicine.
Dr. Southerland is married with 2 children.
Her husband is a gastroenterologist here in Sarasota.
Joanne Murren Boezem, MD, MPH
comes from St. Croix, US Virgin Islands/Trinidad. She attended the University of the Virgin Islands where she graduated with a BS in Biology with Honors. She then earned her Medical Degree as well as a Masters Degree in Public Health at Boston University School of Medicine and Public Health. She completed her Pediatric internship and residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and served as Chief of Pediatrics at Winn Army Community Hospital, Fort Stewart, Georgia. She is a veteran of the United States Army. She has had the privilege of caring the hospitalized children of Sarasota as a member of the All Children’s at Sarasota Memorial Hospitalist team and is currently the Medical Director of the groundbreaking Telemedicine Team at Nemours Children's Hospital in Orlando.
She has served as Assistant Professor at the Florida State University and University of Central Florida College of Medicine mentoring medical students.
Dr. Boezem is a Board Certified Pediatrician and Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She has dedicated her life to caring for and advocating for children.
She is married, with 3 children.
Gabrielle Boodoo, M.D.
was born and raised in Fort Myers, Florida. She received her bachelors degree in science at the University of Florida and subsequently earned her medical degree at Florida State University. She completed her pediatric residency training at the University of South Carolina. Following training, Dr. Boodoo became a pediatric generalist at the University of Virginia prior to moving to Sarasota in 2018.
Dr. Boodoo is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is married with one child.
